When are exams in 2027?
The May/June 2027 series runs from Monday, 10 May 2027 to Friday, 18 June 2027, covering GCSE, AS and A-Level. Every paper starts at either 09:00 or 13:30, and there are no exams between Monday, 31 May 2027 and Friday, 4 June 2027.
What is a contingency day?
A day set aside by the awarding bodies in case national disruption forces a paper to be rescheduled. For 2027 it is Wednesday, 23 June 2027. No exams are timetabled on it, but every candidate must remain available until the end of that day.
Do exam boards publish different timetables?
Each board publishes its own, but GCSE and A-Level exams sit in common slots agreed by all boards under the Joint Council for Qualifications, so the same subject usually falls on the same day across AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC. Component-level details still differ, so confirm against your own board.
When are the November GCSE resits?
The autumn series covers GCSE English Language and Maths only, and runs in November. There is no autumn A-Level series — A-Levels are examined in the summer alone, which is why a missed A-Level entry deadline costs a full year.
How do I know which papers I am sitting?
Your Statement of Entry lists every component you are entered for, with its code and date. Match the code rather than the subject name, because most subjects have several papers spread across the series.
Dates taken from AQA's confirmed May/June 2027 timetables, retrieved 2026-09-07. Official source. Exams sit in common JCQ slots across boards, but always confirm against the board you are entered with.

Entry deadlines fall months before the first paper — the timetable is the easy part.
