ISEB Common Entrance Examinations
Securing Admissions to Top Independent Schools
Qualification & Service Overview
The Independent Schools Examinations Board (ISEB) Common Entrance exams are a vital step for admission into prestigious senior schools. Our network offers a calm and highly supportive environment for children taking these important assessments.
We administer exams for 11+, 13+, and Common Academic Scholarship levels. Our experienced staff understand the unique pressures young candidates face and are dedicated to making the experience as stress-free as possible.
We coordinate closely with candidate's prospective senior schools to ensure all administrative requirements and special educational needs (SEN) accommodations are met seamlessly and professionally.
ISEB assessments and independent school entry
ISEB assessments are used by independent senior schools as part of their entry process, most commonly for entry at 11+ and 13+. Which papers a candidate takes, and when, is decided by the school being applied to rather than by the family — so the first step is always to ask the school, not to book an assessment.
Registration is usually made through a school, which is where families outside that system get stuck. A candidate being educated at home, or moving from overseas, needs a centre able to register and host the assessment.
Preparing without a prep school
The content is not the obstacle for most families; the format is. Candidates coming from outside the prep school system have often never sat a timed paper under exam conditions, and that inexperience costs more marks than any gap in knowledge.
Practise the conditions as well as the material: full papers, timed, in one sitting, without interruption. It is the cheapest improvement available.
ISEB Common Entrance Examinations — your questions answered
Who sets which ISEB papers I take?
The senior school being applied to. Requirements differ between schools and between entry points, so confirm with the school before arranging anything — booking the wrong assessment is a wasted term.
Can a home-educated child sit ISEB assessments?
Yes, but a centre has to register and host the assessment because the process normally runs through a school. This is exactly the gap we exist to fill.
When are ISEB assessments taken?
Timing is set by the receiving school and the entry point, and can fall more than a year before entry. Ask the school for its timetable as early as you can.
