When are the November GCSE resits in 2026?
The November 2026 GCSE resit series runs from Tuesday, 3 November 2026 to Monday, 9 November 2026. Every paper is a morning session starting at 09:00, and the series covers GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics only. Results are released to candidates on Thursday, 14 January 2027 from 08:00.
Which GCSE subjects can be resat in November?
Only GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics. Every other GCSE subject, and every A-Level, is examined in the summer series alone, so a missed summer entry in those subjects means waiting for the following June. The November series exists because a grade 4 in English and Maths is required for most post-16 routes.
What time do the November GCSE papers start?
All November papers are morning sessions starting at 09:00. Candidates should arrive at least 30 minutes before the start with their Statement of Entry and photo identification; the published start time is fixed by the awarding bodies and is the same at every centre.
When do the November 2026 resit results come out?
Thursday, 14 January 2027, released to candidates from 08:00. Private candidates receive their results from the centre that entered them, not from the awarding body directly; certificates follow some weeks later and reach you the same way.
Can you resit GCSE science, or A-Levels, in November?
No. The autumn series is for GCSE English Language and Mathematics only. GCSE sciences and every other subject return in the summer, and there is no November A-Level series at all: A-Level resits are summer-only, so the entry deadline in February is the date to work back from.
Do I need to be at a school or college to sit the November resits?
No. Anyone aged 16 or over on 31 August of the exam year can enter the November series as a private candidate through an exam centre. London Elite Exams makes the entry with the awarding body and secures a seat at a JCQ-registered partner centre in London; the papers and the certificate are the same as a school candidate's.
